The Interim Management Committee Chairperson of Langtang South Local Government Council of Plateau State, Hon. Manji Dangfa has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the internally displaced person’s in Mangu LGA who were displaced as a result of suspected fulani herdsmen attacks between may and July 2023.
Plateau update had reported that hundreds of persons were killed mostly women and children, properties and farmlands destroyed as well as thousands displaced.
Hon. Manji accompany by top management of the Local Government, Stakeholders and PDP strong inner drives. While handing over the relief materials mostly foodstuffs comprising of 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of per-boilt rice-50kg, 5bags of garri, 3bags of millet, 3bags of beans, 10cartons of maggi, 3cartons of toothpaste, 5cartons of detergent, 5cartons of bathing soap, 5bags of salt, 5jerricans of red oil, 5jerricans of vegetable oil and 5 cartons of duck soap, said the gesture was to identify with the people of Mangu LG in times of their hardship and grief.
We visited to support and sympathize with our brothers and sisters here in Mangu, we share in their pains because we have witnessed this same challenge before, we had the same crisis in our local government, and we know the pains and trauma they are going through.
In a time like this, food is very key, especially to women and children who are displaced. So, in our efforts as a local government, we came together as one family from Langtang South with some stakeholders and brought 10bags of maize, 10bags of per-boilt rice-50kg, 5bags of garri, 3bags of millet, 3bags of beans, 10cartons of maggi, 3cartons of toothpaste, 5cartons of detergent, 5cartons of bathing soap, 5bags of salt, 5jerricans of red oil, 5 jerricans of vegetable oil and 5 cartons of duck soap to help the displaced persons feed very good. That’s what we have decided as a local government to come and help with.
We are talking about life, we are talking about humanity, these Children are fragile, and so we feel it’s good to come and give them a helping hand and assistance.
On their part, the PDP southern zonal Chairman, Langtang South PDP LGA Chairman, Chairlady, former LGC Chairman, Hon. Nanman Darko, amongst others, said the visit was just a testimony that what happened to Mwaghavul land is of great concern to them and that they are in sympathy with the Mangu traditional council and the entire LGA.
The Council Chairman of Mangu, Hon. Markus Artu while receiving the items appreciated his counterpart for the show of love, and thanked the Council Chairperson for the gesture to the victims.
Earlier, the Chairperson of Langtang South LGC together with the stakeholders had visited the Mishkaham Mwaghavul His Royal Highness Da John Putmang at his palace to commiserate with him over the incessant attacks.
She said they had visited to share in the pains of the Mwaghavul Nation, saying they are saddened over the situation and encouraging the Paramount ruler that the Langtang South people are standing strong with them, saying Plateau will witness peace and no evil will succeed.
The Traditional Ruler who was ably represented by one of his Council Chief appreciate the visit and calls for united Plateau State to fight against the enemies of the state.
He however, tasked all people of the state to unite irrespective of tribe and religion.
